Come learn the basics of turning and make a classic French rolling pin with professional wood turner Andrew Duling. This is an excellent introduction to lathe work and a great class to take with a fellow baker! Choose your wood and learn the basics to complete a beautiful and functional keepsake. Bring home an individualized rolling pin you can cherish for years, or give as a gift to an avid baker! Each student will complete turning of one rolling pin. Welcome autumn with the ultimate comfort food! Kick off our Fall cooking series with an evening dedicated to the vibrant flavors of Malaysia. You’ll learn to slow-simmer a deeply aromatic, cozy Malaysian Chicken Curry from scratch. To scoop up every drop of that savory sauce, we’ll master the art of making Roti Jala—a beautiful, golden "net bread" that is as fun to make as it is to eat. Spaces are limited for this evening workshop, so secure your spot early! If you have always wanted to sample Evelyn's food, this is your chance to do so... besides the food you will be learning to cook in the class, Evelyn will surprise you with her own additional dish to enhance the meal experience for the evening! Learn the art of needle felting and create one or more two-dimensional ornaments using wool, a special barbed needle, and cookie cutter shapes (trees, candy canes, etc.). Needles, wool roving, cookie cutters, and other felting materials will be provided. No experience necessary. Ages 14 and up. Join us for this fun, informative class to learn how to knit a hat! You will learn to Cast On, Knit, Purl, Decrease, and Bind Off. We will talk about yarn, needles, gauge, tools of the trade, and pattern reading. Hats are fun to knit and wear, plus they make great handmade gifts. If you’ve done a bit of knitting before, this class is just the thing to take you through the next steps in your journey! Learn the basics of wet felting a silk scarf with merino wool to make a beautiful new individualized scarf. You will learn how to lay out wool, how to roll and agitate the silk and wool together to create a new fabric, and how to “full” the wool to shrink and strengthen your piece, and go home with a personalized creation. Please bring an old towel or pool noodle to class. All other supplies will be provided. No prior felting experience needed; Susi will walk you through all of the steps. For students aged 13 and older. Younger students are welcome to register with an adult caregiver who is also registered.

In this 6- session intro to oil painting course you will cover a variety of oil painting techniques and will work on one landscape painting over the course of the workshop. Perfect for the novice just getting into Oil Painting, we will go over the fundamentals of Oils from the perspective of a landscape painter and focus on simple graphic shapes while having fun building dynamic beautiful scenes. We will go over shape language, value, color, and mixing color. The main thrust of the class is to get you to have fun and develop an appreciation for the medium of Oil Paint while learning to think graphically. Bring a landscape photo or picture of your choice to the first class. A list of materials to purchase prior to class will be provided after registration. This is an open studio style, 10-session workshop, designed for those that have taken the Access Bowl Turning Workshop with Eddie previously OR those that feel comfortable in a woodworking shop and can use a lathe independently. With a small class size, this allows each student to work on their own lathe while Eddie supervises and helps wood bowl turners as needed. I’ll take your photo, draw and design your pet in Adobe Illustrator then use my laser machine to cut your custom portrait into individual wooden pieces that will become your "wooden canvas!" When you arrive at class, your personalized pet portrait will be ready for you to paint! You’ll also receive a printed reference showing the original photo you sent and my lined design version of your pet. This will help you see how the different laser-cut sections come together and give you a guide for choosing colors and recreating your pet’s unique markings. Then comes the fun part—painting, assembling, and bringing your pet portrait to life! Get creative with your colors and design to bring your pet's expression and personality to life.
