Slow Flow Afternoon Yoga with EllenDANCE, YOGA & MINDFUL MOVEMENTThis yoga class moves slowly and with intention so that the student can focus on being in the present moment. The integration of breath while holding poses for longer periods of time allows students the option to go deeper in a pose or find more softness. Suitable for beginners and seasoned practitioners alike. Bring your mat and water bottle, as well as blocks and strap (towel), if available. We will have some yoga mats & blocks available to borrow. WaitlistTurn Wooden Pens!ARTS & CRAFTSCome learn the basics of pen turning with professional wood turner Andrew Duling. Pen turning is an excellent introduction to lathe work. It’s a quick, fulfilling, and inexpensive way to go from wood to finished product. Bring home turned pens you can cherish for years or give as a gifts. Each student will complete turning of one pen, with the option of turning an additional pen as time allows. Open to all ages 16+, students 12-16 welcome with an adult chaperone. All experience levels welcome! No prior woodworking experience required. All materials and use of equipment included in the fee. Bring safety eye goggles and wear closed toed shoes. WaitlistWatercolor Studio with Ginny JoynerARTS & CRAFTSDuring these 14 sessions (35 hours!), Ginny will supervise this studio style class and help you master your watercolor techniques! Improve your color palette and brush techniques as you work on more challenging class projects as well as your own projects. Each 2.5 hour session will take place in the visual art space at CVU. This course is designed for artists who have taken watercolor classes previously and are comfortable working independently. Some guided instruction and supervision will be available as you progress throughout this course. This is also great class to connect, gather and learn from other watercolor enthusiasts within our artistic community. Fun will be had, guaranteed! Kelley Robie, of Horsetail Herbs, will guide you on this introduction to identifying common and abundant “weeds” that make some of our very best wild foods and medicines. Here in Vermont, for at least half of the year, we can find dozens of nutritious and healing plants to incorporate into our meals! We will identify local plant species, discuss parts of the plants used, when to harvest them and even do some taste-testing. You will go home with wild food recipes and a new appreciation for Vermont’s local wild plants. Local eating at its best, both fresh and free! This class will meet inside CVU, before moving outside. Each class has a unique, relatable theme based on insights from the yoga tradition. You’ll feel better physically and enjoy a theme you can contemplate all week. Stylistic and fitness variations make this class accessible for participants of all abilities and ages. No dance experience is necessary, just your enthusiasm! See you on the dance floor!
